Siskiyou cypress | Miller Lake, Oregon
elevation: 5700 feet
habitat: rocky, serpentine slope
associates: incense-cedar, Douglas-fir, white fir
region: North-central Klamath Mountains
comments: The siskiyou cypress grove at Miller Lake has been rumored to harbor the champion for the species. The tree pictured here was the largest in the grove that I found. With measurements of 4.1 foot DBH and ~84 feet tall, it is the largest C. bakeri I have ever seen. I also witnessed a fungal pathogen that was killing these trees. Any idea what it is?
